The look of a reception desk is everything. No, not the cleanliness of it, but the size and color, or how modern it is, or perhaps something completely different. Before you buy a reception desk, you have to ask yourself, “Is this going to look good in my office?”

You see, a reception desk is more that simply a place for a receptionist to sit at. It is a face of the business. When someone enters your building, they need to know that you mean business. When purchasing a reception desk, you need to take into account the rule of first impressions: “Always have a good one.”

Your desk needs to fit well in the space it is set in. For this to happen, a custom made desk is key. If your reception desk doesn’t fit, it is going to obstruct the movement of customers and staff. It needs to be within the reach of customers, but also not in the way of them. That is why you need it to be custom made. Make sure to order this far in advance, as it may take a long time to be ready, sometimes up to 2 months.

A compact desk is nice at times, but be wary of the fact that you may not have enough drawer space or computer room for your needs. Whilst this may be pleasing to the eye, it won’t always be the most practical choice. This can be a burden more than a blessing.

This advice can be considered obvious by some, but it is also one of those things that people don’t always think about. Don’t rush into things too quickly, especially when choosing something like a reception desk. Something that is the “face of the company” should be chosen with care.
